Gov. Katie Hobbs Proclaims April 2024 as Distracted Driving Awareness Month in Arizona

Gov. Katie Hobbs has proclaimed April 2024 as Distracted Driving Awareness Month in Arizona in response to a request submitted by Arizona Chapter National Safety Council (ACNSC). In April, ACNSC, in partnership with the National Safety Council (NSC), observes Distracted Driving Awareness Month to bring attention to the serious threat manual, visual, and cognitive distractions pose to the safety of all road users. This month is a means to raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving and share simple steps to avoid it.

Thousands of people are killed and hundreds of thousands more are seriously injured in distracted driving crashes each year. ACNSC is urging businesses to prioritize safe driving practices among their employees. By raising awareness and emphasizing the importance of attentive driving, employers can play a pivotal role in reducing the risks associated with distracted driving.

ACNSC would like to thank Gov. Katie Hobbs for observing Distracted Driving Awareness Month in Arizona. By signing this proclamation, the governor has joined communities across the country committed to eliminating distracted driving. Through collective action, we can help make a difference in keeping those who drive to, from, and for work, as well as those who share the road with them, safe.

Free resources – including posters, videos, and articles – are available at nsc.org/justdrive. Participants are encouraged to take the NSC Just Drive Pledge to drive distraction-free and to help make the roads safer with a donation to the lifesaving mission of NSC.
