This online course is intended for employees who have reasonably anticipated occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials and meet the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. A special chapter on airborne pathogens exceeds OSHA requirements and protects your employees against airborne illness as well.
This course is ideal for first responders, dentists, dental hygienists, lab workers, police, EMTs and paramedics, animal handlers, and custodians - and anyone exposed to blood or OPIMs can benefit from this resource.
Participants will learn:
- List the different types of airborne pathogens and high-risk workplaces for airborne disease
- Explain the difference between an epidemic and a pandemic
- Describe the method of infection, symptoms, and special considerations for tuberculosis, influenza, and COVID-19 infections
- Describe what to do if you experience COVID-19 symptoms
- Explain administrative, environmental, and respiratory protection controls for preventing disease transmission
- Describe the types of personal protective equipment (PPE) used to minimize airborne disease transmission
After completing the course, students will receive the certification of completion.
